I saw that and it’d be very cool. I’ve yet to pilot a new Camaro, but I’m dubious as to the sightlines and its autocross worthiness just from sitting in one.

I’ve driven an SS, and it was pretty great. Although feels huge after the FR-S.

Handling was actually fairly impressive too.

Have you driven a S550? How’d it compare with regards to sightlines? I had a S550 for a weekend and after driving it wasn’t sure how guys were competitive in autocross in those things, it’s hard to see what’s close to you, I just can’t imagine the Camaro being any better.

I have not driven one yet. But lots of people seem to think the Turbo Camaro will be a strong competitor in DS next year.

Agreed. I drive an ATS 2.0t and it is quite lovely at autocrossing. I’d love to see what a mission-specific version would be like.

It’d have to be a factory option to be worth a damn for autocross. At least ‘port installed’. Otherwise the car goes to Street Prepared class and I doubt these changes make it competitive there

I autocross an S550. You adjust to the car and learn where the wheels are.

Of course I do hit a lot of cones, but I don’t think that’s a visibility thing

It should be. Haven’t heard of many being run, but 3rd place FS at nationals was an Ecoboost Mustang and it was 2 seconds faster than all of DS. I heard that driver got a turbo camaro. It’s down on power which doesn’t matter for autocross and is like 200 pounds lighter which does. I’d still like to drive one

285s would be super meaty for Ds, though I sure wouldn’t want to be replacing those 20" rim tires very often re71rs are 320 EACH!. I could have 2 sets for my car for the price of one on that car!

I have a feeling it’d be bumped out of DS. Likely become a CS or BS car.
